In 2021, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl partnered with FIS and the College Football Playoff Foundation to
honor the best playmakers of the classroom across Duval County — our MVT’s (Most Valuable Teacher’s)!
In support and celebration of local teachers, each week throughout college football season,
we’re surprising a local, deserving teacher with $1,000 to use in their classrooms!
In addition to the $1,000, all teachers recognized throughout the fall are invited to attend the
TaxSlayer Gator Bowl as our guests and be honored on-field during the game!

The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl MVT (Most Valuable Teacher) initiative was designed to celebrate and support teachers in our community as it’s no question they are the playmakers of the classroom. To support them, the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl in partnership with the College Football Playoff Foundation and FIS have designated $16,000 this year to give back to local teachers throughout college football season.
All public and charter school teachers Kindergarten through 12th grade in Duval County.
*Teachers that were recognized as MVT’s during the 2021-2022 or 2022-2023 school year are ineligible to win.

One winner will be randomly selected each week. The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl team will reach out to the school directly to surprise the winning teacher of the week in their classroom. Each week’s winners will be posted on the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl social media channels as selected.
Each MVT will receive a $1,000 grant to spend however you’d like using DonorsChoose.
If you are selected as the MVT, a member of the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl team will surprise you at your school to tell you the good news! We will then grant you your $1,000 gift using DonorsChoose. Recipients will be able to post a ‘project’, receive funding from the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl and then receive the goods directly to their school.
All recipients of the MVT grant will be invited to be our guest at this year’s TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on December 29, 2023 at Noon on Bill Gay Grounds at EverBank Stadium. Each recipient will be given two (2) tickets + parking and honored on-field during the game.
The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will select each MVT of the week at random using a random number generator.
The TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will be selecting SIXTEEN winners this year to each receive $1,000 for a total of $16,000 given back to local teachers this fall!
All property acquired from your ‘project’ is to stay with the school unless otherwise directed by your school officials.
